Grand talks

0 8

After former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari called for unconditional talks with PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan. Siraj Ul Haq Ameer Jamaat Islami first called on PM Shabaz Sharif, and later met PTI chief Imran Khan at their residences in Model Town and Zaman Park, respectively, the PTI has formed a 3-member committee to hold talks with other stakeholders.

The talks between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) are indeed important for the country. The PDM is the ruling alliance of Pakistan, while the PTI is an opposition party.

It is important to note that Pakistan is a democratic country where the opposition plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability and checks and balances on the ruling government. A healthy opposition is necessary for a robust democracy, and thus, talks between the ruling party and the opposition are essential to ensure the smooth functioning of the democratic system.

PPP has already constituted a committee consisting of Senator Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar and PM’s Adviser on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira who will “engage with allies in the coalition government to reach consensus on dialogue with all political parties”.

The main task of the three PPP leaders is to persuade the PML-N and JUI-F to hold talks with PTI on all issues, including elections, to end the ongoing crises.

PPP is primarily concerned about “deadlock” among the political players. Three-member body faces an uphill task of persuading PML-N, JUI-F to sit down with the opposition party.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also announced the formation of a three-member committee for talks with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) “to get out of the current political crisis”.

The announcement is a welcome change, the committee was formed after the former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan met with JI chief Siraj ul Haq.

The members of the committee include Pervez Khattak, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid.

while Pakistan is facing various economic, political, and social challenges, such as inflation, unemployment, poverty, and political polarization. These challenges require a bipartisan approach, and talks between the PTI and the PDM can pave the way for a consensus on various issues especially the upcoming provincial and general elections

The PDM government has been criticized for its handling of various issues, such as the economy, foreign policy, and governance. The talks between the ruling party and the opposition can provide an opportunity for the PDM to address these criticisms and improve its policies.

It is important to note that talks alone are not enough to solve the problems of the country. The PDM government must also take concrete steps to address the challenges facing the country and work towards building consensus with the opposition. Moreover, the opposition should also play a responsible role and support the government on issues that are in the national interest

In conclusion, talks between the PTI and the PDM are important for Pakistan, and both sides should work towards building consensus and addressing the challenges facing the country. It is only through cooperation and bipartisanship that Pakistan can overcome its challenges and emerge as a prosperous and stable nation.
