In the brand-new documentary Pretty Baby, Brooke Shields revealed that she was raped as a young Hollywood actress. Brooke Shields, whose premiere took place on Friday, the second day of the Sundance Film Festival.
The former supermodel said she met the man, whom she already knew, shortly after graduating from college, thinking it was a work meeting to discuss casting her in a new movie. She did not reveal the identity of her attacker.
He claimed he would call her a taxi from his room as he drove her back to his hotel. She claimed that he then returned naked and assaulted her after disappearing to the bathroom.
In the documentary, Shields recalled, “I just absolutely froze.” He did not engage in much fighting.
I believed that my single “no” should have been sufficient. And all I could think was, “Stay alive and get out.”
Shields recalled calling her friend and security chief Gavin de Becker after the incident, and he told her: Rape is that.
She responded, “I’m not willing to believe that,” and has since avoided discussing the incident in public.
One of several shocking moments in the film, which will be released in two parts on the Hulu streaming platform, is the revelation, which echoes #MeToo revelations made by prominent and lesser-known Hollywood actresses in recent years.

Shields went to Princeton University after becoming famous all over the world as a teenager. After graduating, she had trouble finding acting work again, which led her to meet her alleged rapist.
“Perseverance”: Prior to the film’s premiere at the festival in Utah, she told AFP, “My personal message is perseverance, and not allowing yourself to become a victim to a society or an industry.”
Shields stated, “I’m proud of how I kept learning, growing, striving, and loving what I do.”

It features a number of well-known Shields friends, including Laura Linney, Drew Barrymore, and Lionel Richie.
Sundance, which Robert Redford co-founded, is a crucial platform for independent films and documentaries.
The festival’s surprise late addition, Justice, which investigates allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, premiered on Thursday as well.
It is Doug Liman’s first documentary and features testimony from Deborah Ramirez, one of Kavanaugh’s accusers and a former Yale classmate. The Bourne Identity was directed by Liman.
It also contains audio of a different classmate who claimed to have witnessed Kavanaugh exposing himself to a different, “extremely drunk” woman student at a different party. This account was only reported in the US media a few months after Kavanaugh’s polarizing Senate confirmation hearing in 2018.
The unidentified woman has stated that she does not recall the incident.
