Islamabad: prominent Kashmiri leader Abdul Hameed Lone has strongly condemned the brutal killing of three civilians in Poonch district of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In a deeply troubling turn of events, the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed an unprecedented display of brutality on December 21st as Indian forces carried out a violent raid, resulting in the tragic death of five Indian soldiers. Shockingly, the aftermath of this operation saw the arbitrary arrest of numerous innocent civilians on questionable grounds, subjecting them to horrifying acts of violence.
Abdul Hamid Lone has strongly condemned these brutalities against the civilian population. He attributes these actions to the oppressive tactics employed by the Modi government in India, expressing deep concern over the protection afforded to draconian laws and the apparent impunity enjoyed by the Indian occupying forces. According to Lone, such actions effectively turn the military’s conduct into a license for mass killings.
He said that on June 26th, the U.S. State Department, marking the International Day for Victims of Torture, voiced its concern about the global impact of such violence on affected lives. Despite international attention and condemnation, incidents of brutality persist in various parts of the world.
He said that Indian army picked five individuals, including 52-year-old Mohammad Ashraf, a lineman in the Power Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir since 2007, were subjected to brutal violence. Ashraf, along with others, is currently hospitalized, bearing both physical and emotional scars from the heinous attack.
Ashraf recounted the harrowing experience, stating that the military arrested them on December 22nd, took them from their homes at 9 AM, and subjected them to relentless beatings. Their clothes were removed, and they were beaten with sticks and iron rods. Chili powder was mercilessly applied to their wounds, and the assault continued until they lost consciousness.
In a shocking revelation, Ashraf identified himself as the person seen in a viral video, where Indian military personnel ruthlessly beat an individual with iron rods and sticks. Describing the severity of the assault, he emphasized being bedridden for the past week due to injuries sustained.
As the international community intensifies scrutiny, the urgency for justice and accountability for the victims of this unprecedented brutality becomes more pronounced.
He urging the world, including the United States, to move beyond mere condemnation and question whether practical steps will be taken to deliver justice to the victims, emphasizing the need for accountability for the atrocities committed against civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.
