Experts conduct sessions on SPSS, sample size determination, and literature review
ISLAMABAD: A comprehensive workshop titled “From Data to Discovery: A Comprehensive Workshop on Research Skills” was organized at Iqra University Chak Shehzad Campus to enhance the research abilities of students and equip them with essential academic and professional skills in health sciences.
A large number of students from the Allied Health Sciences department actively participated in the workshop, showing keen interest in improving their understanding of modern research methodologies and scientific writing.
The workshop featured a series of expert-led sessions covering important aspects of research planning, statistical analysis, and literature review.
Professor Muhammad Ayub Sadiqi conducted an interactive session on IBM SPSS Statistics, where participants were introduced to data entry techniques, statistical analysis procedures, and interpretation of research findings. Students were also given practical demonstrations to help them understand the application of statistical tools in research projects.
Dr. Muhammad Farhan delivered a detailed lecture on sample size determination, highlighting various calculation methods, assumptions, and the significance of selecting an appropriate sample size for valid and reliable research studies.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ayesha Habib led the session on literature review. She emphasized evidence searching, article screening, critical appraisal, and the synthesis of scientific findings for effective research writing and publication.
The workshop successfully combined theoretical learning with practical demonstrations, providing participants with hands-on exposure to key research processes. Students actively engaged with the speakers throughout the sessions, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere.
Organizers stated that the initiative aimed to strengthen students’ competencies in research planning, data analysis, and scientific communication, which are essential for academic excellence and professional growth in the field of health sciences.
