KP Minister for Public Health Engineering Fazal Shakoor Khan Visits Abbottabad, Inspects Korea- Assisted Clean Drinking Water Project

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering, Fazal Shakoor Khan, visited
Abbottabad district where he conducted a detailed inspection of a major clean drinking water
project being implemented with the cooperation of Korea.

KP Assembly Member Iftikhar Ahmed Jadoon and National Assembly Member Ali Asghar
accompanied the minister during the visit, while concerned officers and project officials were also
present.

During the visit, the Project Director briefed the Minister for Public Health Engineering and other
distinguished representatives on various aspects of the project, including overall progress, technical
features, objectives, and the completion timeline.

The briefing highlighted that the project has been initiated to ensure the supply of clean and quality
drinking water to the residents of Havelian and Abbottabad, benefiting hundreds of thousands of
people in the area.

According to project officials, the total cost of the project is Rs. 4.64 billion, and it is scheduled to be
completed by August 2026. Upon completion, the project will help overcome water scarcity and
ensure the provision of safe drinking water, leading to a significant reduction in waterborne
diseases.

On the occasion, the Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan expressed satisfaction with the
progress of the project and said that the KP government is taking priority measures to provide basic
facilities to the public, particularly the supply of clean drinking water. He directed the concerned
authorities to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high
standards and full transparency.

The minister further said that this Korea-assisted project is an important example of international
cooperation and will play a key role in resolving the long-standing water issues of the people of
Abbottabad and Havelian. He maintained that the KP government’s commitment to ensuring a
healthy and improved quality of life for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
