In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Grammy winner stated, “It was a Black school.”
“Mostly Black and Brown, Caribbean, I had Nigerian buddies,” My Skin hitmaker said. Usher, Destiny’s Child, Ludacris, and I were listening to OK Computer by Radiohead while everyone else was listening to what was playing on the radio.
Even when I was in a rock band, I kept it a secret because I didn’t want to be made fun of by my classmates, who would yell, “White girl!” Lizzo recounted.

Just Damn The Time singer revealed that she experienced bullying at school as a result of her clothing choices.
Juice crooner recalled, “I was wearing these flared bell-bottoms with embroidery, and they’d say, ‘You look like a white girl, why do you want to dress like a hippie?'”
Lizzo said to an outlet, “I wanted to be liked so badly; it hurt not to fit in.”
But the singer discovered a “defence mechanism” to handle the harsh words of the day.
“My wit served as a form of defense. According to the singer of Truth Hurts, “I turned into the class clown, which is a type of projected confidence.
According to Lizzo, “I have the kind of social anxiety where I get louder and funnier as I get more worried.”
