Islamabad — Mushal Malik, wife of the jailed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, visited the Daily Country Media Group along with her daughter Razia Sultana. During the visit, she held an insightful and wide-ranging discussion with Editor-in-Chief Sardar Hameed.

Mushal Malik and Sardar Hameed exchanged views on the evolving media landscape in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the challenges faced by local journalists, and the need for strengthening professional reporting in the region. They highlighted the critical role responsible media plays in shaping public opinion, countering misinformation, and amplifying the voices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The discussion also focused extensively on the prevailing situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, particularly the ongoing human rights violations, restrictions on civil liberties, and the continued detention of political leaders, including Muhammad Yasin Malik. Mushal Malik briefed the editor about the hardships faced by Kashmiri families, the suppression of political expression, and the urgent need for international attention to the escalating crisis.

She appreciated the Daily Country Media Group for its consistent coverage of Kashmir-related developments and for voicing concerns of the oppressed people of IOK. Sardar Hameed reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to responsible journalism and to highlighting the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Mushal Malik emphasised that sustained media advocacy is essential to keep the Kashmir issue alive at national and international platforms. She called for stronger collaboration between civil society, media organisations, and human rights groups to expose ongoing violations and support the struggle for justice and self-determination.

The visit concluded with a mutual commitment to continue raising awareness about the Kashmir cause and promoting professional, ethical, and impactful journalism in the region.
