Islamabad: Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, in his special message on Kashmir Black Day said that October 27, 1947, remains the darkest day in human history when India violated moral values and international laws by forcibly occupying the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the so-called Instrument of Accession signed by the Maharaja was illegal and doubtful, and the Indian forces, along with Dogra troops and RSS extremists, massacred more than 250,000 Muslims in Jammu while forcing hundreds of thousands to flee their homes. The wave of Indian brutality that began in 1947, he added, continues to this day, with India relentlessly trying to crush the Kashmiri will, erase their identity, and usurp their land.
Tanveer Ilyas said the Modi regime’s fascist move of August 5, 2019, to revoke the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir was not only a blatant violation of UN resolutions but also of India’s own constitution. He accused New Delhi of attempting demographic change to turn Kashmir into a Hindu-majority region while keeping the valley under siege and imprisoning Hurriyat leaders.
He emphasized that the people of Kashmir have been fighting for the completion of Pakistan for over seven decades and that the bond between Kashmir and Pakistan is one of faith, sacrifice, and devotion. “From Jammu to Ladakh and Kupwara to Poonch, every Kashmiri raises one slogan — We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours,” he remarked.
The PPP leader urged the United Nations, OIC, and the global community to move beyond statements and take concrete steps to end India’s human rights violations and ensure the right to self-determination for Kashmiris. He expressed confidence that the day is not far when the long night of oppression will end and the sun of freedom will rise over the mountains of Kashmir, fulfilling the dream of a free Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan.
