ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, paid visit to the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project along with Member Engineering, Syed Nafasat Raza and relevant officers. Overall, more than 50% of the construction work on the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project has been completed.
During the visit, Chairman CDA inspected the ongoing construction activities in various sections of the project.
The relevant officers briefed Chairman CDA on the progress of the construction work, informing him that the girder work for the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project has been completed. Similarly, the pile work involved in this project has also been finished.
During the briefing, Chairman CDA was informed that over 70% of the barrel structure work for the Shaheen Chowk project has been completed. He was apprised that after the completion of the barrel structure work, the launching of girders and roof work will commence.
Chairman CDA was briefed that work on the walls of the Shaheen Chowk project is progressing rapidly. Likewise, work on the project’s slip roads has also begun. During the briefing, it was informed that other development works, including the construction of a transom on the bridge adjacent to the Shaheen Chowk project, are progressing swiftly. He was further informed that construction activities are ongoing 24/7 to ensure the project’s timely completion.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction work on the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project so far and directed that adherence to the project’s construction timelines must be ensured under all circumstances.
Chairman CDA also directed the construction work to be carried out on landscaping, digital boards, and LED lights for the beautification of the project. He said that the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project would prove to be a significant milestone in modernizing Islamabad’s infrastructure and reducing traffic congestion. He added that upon completion, this project will provide signal-free travel facilities to daily commuters and students of educational institutions in the vicinity. Chairman CDA directed the Project Director and Resident Engineers to ensure high standards in all ongoing construction activities on the project through effective monitoring.
