According to the Henley Passport Index 2022 report, the Pakistani passport was once again ranked as the fourth worst passport in the world, maintaining its position from last year and providing visa-free access to only 32 destinations.
The index ranks 199 passports from around the world according to the number of places the holder can visit without a visa.
The rankings were based on data from the International Air Transport Association, which maintains the world’s largest database of travel information. The data was augmented by ongoing research by Henley & Partners Research Department.
For the 2022 ranking, Pakistan was ranked fourth, only higher than the war-torn countries of Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Afghanistan ranks last on the list, with its citizens having access to only 27 countries and the lowest passport visa-free score. Syrian and Iraqi passport holders can only enter 30 and 29 countries respectively.
The highest-ranking passport, with 193 destinations available to its holders, was Japan, followed by Singapore and South Korea, with 192 visa-free passports.
The other top countries were mostly European, with the United States and the United Kingdom in sixth and seventh place. Australia and Canada were ranked eighth along with some European countries.
In Asia, India – along with Mauritius and Tajikistan – was ranked 87th, with its passport allowing access to 67 countries.
China ranks 69th with Bolivia. Their passports allow access to 80 destinations.
