ABBOTTABAD: The employees of the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Abbottabad have demanded eviction of outsiders occupying the rooms in the paramedical hostels here.

As per details, the paramedics at District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) in Abbottabad are facing issues of non-allotment of rooms. According to a paramedic who wished not to be named, the situation is highly unfair, with a majority of the paramedics being denied rooms while individuals with strong political connections and those willing to pay bribes are allocated rooms in the hostels.

This revelation came to light when the paramedics spoke to this correspondent on Sunday, shedding light on the discrepancies in room allotment. The paramedics, who tirelessly serve the hospital and its patients, expressed their frustration and disappointment over the unfair treatment they have been enduring.

The paramedics revealed that several rooms in the hostel had been rented out to individuals from various offices who already had their own residences in Abbottabad. This alarming situation had not gone unnoticed by the Medical Superintendent (MS) of DHQ, but unfortunately, no action had been taken against these illegal occupiers due to the influence of certain corrupt individuals within the hospital.

Whispered in hushed tones, the employees who had been denied accommodation in the hostel but had witnessed officials from another government department illegally occupying the rooms, expressed their grievances under the cloak of anonymity. They shared that when they had mustered the courage to demand the residences that were rightfully allocated to them, they had been met with retaliation and victimization.

These employees alleged that the occupants had managed to acquire their rooms through a conniving partnership with influential figures within the health department. It seemed that these high-ranking individuals, blinded by personal gain, had turned a blind eye to the plight of the employees serving in the hospital as it is blatant violation of rules.

Naveed Akram Abbasi, a senior journalist while commenting on the matter said the District Headquarters Hospital in Abbottabad serves as a vital healthcare institution, and it is crucial that the well-being and welfare of its dedicated staff are prioritized. He said the non-allotment of rooms to deserving paramedics and the preferential treatment shown to outsiders with political influence is an alarming issue that needs to be addressed urgently. It not only undermines the morale and dedication of the hardworking medical staff but also raises concerns about fairness and corruption within the system.

Despite repeated attempts, Doctor Amir Israr, MS DHQ Abbottabad, was unavailable for comment on the issue. Meanwhile, when approached by this correspondent, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Khalid Mehmood, stated that he did not have a clear picture of the situation. However, he assured that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law if any violations was found.
