Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, met Chairman Ulema and Mashaikh Council, Sahibzada Zulfiqar Ali, and Vice Chairman Professor Daud Naqshbandi.
During the meeting, Chairman Ulema and Mashaikh Council Sahibzada Zulfiqar Ali briefed the Prime Minister in detail on administrative matters, performance, objectives, and the future course of action of the council. It was decided to organise conferences on the role of ulema and mashaikh in strengthening Pakistan and the Kashmir freedom movement. Issues related to mosques and religious institutions were also discussed, and it was agreed to take concrete steps for the resolution of these matters. Emphasis was laid on further activating the role of ulema and mashaikh in promoting interfaith and inter-sect harmony, tolerance, and peace.
Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said that the ideology of accession to Pakistan remains the ultimate destination. He said that practical measures would be taken to address the issues faced by mosque imams to make religious and social services more effective and transparent.
The Prime Minister said that it is the responsibility of the state to keep the younger generation informed about facts, adding that promoting the vision of elders is the need of the hour. He said that promoting peace, interfaith and inter-sect harmony, tolerance, and brotherhood in society is the responsibility of every citizen, and ulema and mashaikh must play a key role in fostering peace, unity, and sectarian harmony. He said the government would work closely with religious scholars to strengthen social harmony, law and order, and public trust.
He further said that the government’s focus is not limited to administrative reforms alone but also includes addressing day-to-day public issues, ensuring peace and order, nurturing the minds of youth, and securing a bright future for the younger generation. He stressed that the promotion of knowledge, skills, and moral training is essential so that education can serve as a strong pillar of social and national development.
The Prime Minister said that ulema and mashaikh should extend full cooperation with the government in establishing social tolerance and peace. He assured that the government would take comprehensive steps to resolve the issues faced by mosques, madaris, and religious scholars in the service of religion, adding that the ultimate objective is to put Azad Kashmir on the path of development and prosperity.
