MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq chaired a high-level meeting here on Wednesday to review key matters related to the Department of Electricity.
Secretary Electricity Irshad Qureshi briefed the Prime Minister on the current status of power transmission lines, feeder upgradation, transformer repairs, and the overall condition of grid stations, along with the technical and financial challenges faced by the department.
Prime Minister Haq issued immediate directions for the early repair of transmission lines, resolution of low-voltage issues, and upgradation of outdated feeders and transformers on a priority basis. He emphasized that restoring power supply in remote and underdeveloped areas, installing new transformers, and enhancing grid station capacity remain among the government’s top priorities.
The Prime Minister assured that all possible measures would be taken to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and to improve the overall power infrastructure across Azad Kashmir. He directed the Department of Electricity to identify areas needing urgent improvement and take prompt action using available resources to provide maximum relief to the public.
Prime Minister Haq stressed the importance of strengthening public trust in the government through effective service delivery and developing a comprehensive strategy to address challenges in grid stations and electricity distribution.
The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Col. (R) Waqar Ahmad Noor, Minister for School Education Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai, Minister for Public Works Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Minister for Health Nisar Ansar Abdali, Principal Secretary Zafar Mehmood Khan, and Secretary Electricity Irshad Qureshi.
