PTI approaches SJC to request that CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja be fired.

The PTI requested the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja from his position on Tuesday, arguing that he is not “qualified to retain the constitutional job.”
While PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other party officials have criticised CEC Raja’s performance, PTI Central Vice President Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry filed a reference against Raja on behalf of the party.
Raja’s resignation as CEC and the reconstruction of the ECP before the following general elections have been demanded by PTI on numerous occasions.

The PTI had planned to file a judicial reference against CEC Raja in July. The reference was filed but later withdrew because the PTI wanted to add more proof to support it.

Imran Khan and his party were allegedly denied a fair trial and due process of law by the ECP chief because he harboured “grudges” against them, according to the PTI’s argument in the new reference.

According to the PTI, the current election commissioner “revealed himself as being biassed, dishonest, and unfaithful to the Constitutional role that he is holding” through his performance. It further states that the CEC knowingly violated Article 5 and the oath he took in accordance with Article 214.

The reference reads, “The incumbent Chief Election Commissioner’s apparent discriminating attitude has also made his integrity highly doubtful.”

The CEC Raja is “not qualified to hold the constitutional post under Article 213 and has failed to fulfil his constitutional duties under Articles 214 and 218,” the PTI has informed the SJC.

The PTI has requested that the SJC accept its reference and thereafter fire CEC Raja.
