Riphah establishes center for herbal research

Islamabad: Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Gulberg Greens Campus (RIPS GGC) has recently inaugurated a special event celebrating the establishment of a center for herbal research. The significance of herbal medicines as promising sources for drug development has been highlighted, emphasizing their rapidly increasing applications in medicine.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan, who shared insights into the expanding scope of herbal medicines. Campus Director Dr. Sarwat Jamila commenced the ceremony with a welcoming note, Director of RIPS GGC, Dr. Umair Ilyas, underscored the importance of herbal medicines, while Dr. Humaira Nadeem and Dr. Humaira Naureen highlighted the crucial role of herbal medicines in the treatment of various diseases.

The event saw active participation from RIPS faculty members including Prof. Dr. Aslam Khan, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Dr. Sidra Kaleem, Dr. Zakir Khan, Dr. Muzzammil Masud, Dr. Yasir Rasool, Dr. Komal Raja, and Dr. Saima Akram. Dr. Sidra Kaleem, the organizer of the event, ensured its smooth execution.

Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan officially inaugurated the center for herbal research, while students enthusiastically shared their thoughts on the importance of medicinal plants.

The efforts of the students were appreciated by Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan and Dr. Sarwat Jamila, who blessed them with prayers, marking a memorable and meaningful start to the herbal research center at RIPS GGC. This initiative aims to promote global awareness of herbal medicines, fostering advancements in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
