Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) agree on cooperation for Right to Information legislation in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
Assistant Registrar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) and Secretary Information, Gilgit Baltistan(GB) agreed on consultation and cooperation on legislation for the right of access to information in GB. On the request of Muhayuddin Ahmad Wani, Chief Secretary GB, Mrs.Farah Hamid Khan, Chief Information Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) directed Mr.Nazim Shahab Qamar, Assistant Registrar, KPIC to visit GB for consultation on RTI legislation in GB.
Nazim Qamar held a meeting with Zameer Abbas, Secretary Information GB and here discussed the RTI Legislation and it’s benefits for both citizens and government in detail.
Nazim Shahab Qamar also presented the documents of KPIC and express willingness for cooperation. “Enactment of the Right to Information Act (RTI) in GB would be helpful in eradicating corruption and a transparent governance” Mr Qamar said.
Mr. Zameer Abbas said that steps are being taken to promote good governance in Gilgit Baltistan.
It is pertinent to mention that KP is the first among other provinces to legislate on RTI and implement this Law in the province in 2013.
