Shaheen and Shadab are finalists for the T20 World Cup’s Player of the Tournament award.

Two Pakistani athletes, all-rounder Shadab Khan and bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, have made the shortlist for the T20 World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament award.
Nine outstanding performers have been nominated for the award by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
With 10 wickets remaining in the massive event, Shadab and Shaheen are Pakistan’s joint-highest wicket-takers.
“Shadab Khan has been a standout player for Pakistan during their route to the tournament’s final, shining with both bat and ball. He has been a standout performer, taking crucial wickets in the middle overs and excelling as a middle order power batter, according to a press release from the ICC.
“Shadab’s most significant contribution with the bat came during Pakistan’s game against South Africa in Sydney, where he produced a fast-bowling half-century. He has taken 10 wickets with the ball in six games, besting at 3/22 with a meagre 6.59 economy rate,” it continued.
The ICC also gave Shaheen a tonne of plaudits for his successful comeback in the competition following a knee injury.
“Shaheen Afridi has gradually but steadily found his rhythm in the tournament, playing at his peak level in the last few games. The pacer had no wickets in his first two games but went on to take 10 in his following four, helping Pakistan rally from the verge of elimination to make the finals, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
He has taken 10 wickets overall in six games, averaging 14.20 per wicket with a remarkable economy of 6.17. In the championship game against England, Pakistan will once again rely on him to perform his miracles.
Other contenders for the top prize include Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli of India, Sam Curran, Jos Buttler, and Wanindu Hasaranga of England.

On November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the T20 World Cup final between England and Pakistan will take place.
