ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Senator Azam Khan Swati asserted on Tuesday that after being detained, he was driven to an unspecified location and filmed there.
Swati praised Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial during a press conference in Islamabad for looking into the circumstances surrounding his arrest by the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) in a case involving “controversial” tweets.
The PTI leader sought the Supreme Court last month to bring attention to the FIA’s detention.
On October 13, the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing (CCW) registered a complaint against the senator over tweets critical of the army chief and arrested him at his house in Islamabad.
He was last week, however, given post-arrest bail in exchange for surety bonds totaling Rs. 1 million.
Swati claimed that during the arrest, expensive items were removed from his home.
He continued, “I don’t care if they took my life, but they degraded my honour.
The PTI leader requested that the Supreme Court inspect the surveillance video taken around his home. In order for the court to know how many persons entered his house, he suggested that they should be submitted for a forensic study.
He continued by saying that half of the evidence in his case was captured on CCTV. In addition, he said, “they brought backup CCTV cameras.”
Regarding Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Swati referred to him as a proven liar and criminal.
