Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, has said that the world celebrates International Widows Day, it is important for the women of Kashmir to play their role in liberating themselves from the tyranny of India.
In his message on the eve on International Widow’s Day, the PM AJK said that He said that the government will take sustainable and long-term measures in the next fiscal year for the care and rehabilitation of widowed women and vulnerable individuals. It is also the social responsibility of society to assist and support deserving individuals.
He said that India is using women in occupied Jammu and Kashmir as instruments of war, which constitutes acts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Since 1989, India has killed 22,960 husbands of these women. More than two thousand women are living as half-widows, whose husbands have been forcibly disappeared by the occupying forces of India, and their fate remains unknown for years.
The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that what greater example of brutality can there be than in one village alone in occupied Kashmir, where there are 200 such women whose husbands have been forcibly disappeared.
He said that not only in occupied Jammu and Kashmir but also due to the firing by Indian forces, many women have become widows in the areas adjacent to the Line of Control in Azad Kashmir.
The international community should not confine its support to just celebrating a day but should also take steps to rescue these women from this oppression and barbarism.
Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq said that the government of Azad Kashmir is making efforts to take measures for the permanent rehabilitation of such classes in Azad Kashmir who are living in difficult conditions.
