Sweeping the runoff elections on Sunday against grand alliance opposition is another milestone for president of Turkiye Recip Tayyib Erdogan.   President Erdogan emerged victorious over his rival, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, in the second round of the presidential elections. President Erdogan will extend his continuous rule, which has been in place for two terms, until 2028.

Ruling the Turkiye for 20 years, Turkey’s longest-serving leader was tested like never before in what was widely seen as the country’s most consequential election in its 100-year history as a post-Ottoman republic. His AK Party has been in power since November 2002, and he has ruled Turkey since 2003.

The elections, in which more than 64 million Turks at home and abroad were entitled to vote, took place against a background of a cost-of-living crisis that saw inflation peak at 85 percent in October and earthquakes in February that killed more than 50,000 people.

Important NATO ally, Erdogan has positioned Turkiye as a regional power, this victory will reinforce his image of invincibility, Streets erupted in car-honking jubilation and tributes poured in from across the world as Turkiye’s most important leader in modern history climbed atop a bus in Istanbul to celebrate his toughest election win.

Erdogan’s win is seen as a moral boost for Muslim countries as he openly supported former Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi and Muslim brotherhood, with strong criticism of Islamophobia Erdogan enjoys a strong fan base across the world.

The UN, OIC, European Union, Arab countries, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and other countries congratulated Erdogan for sweeping polls in Turkiye.

Erdogan is seen as pro-Islamic whereas opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu is seen as liberal and pro west.

The ruling AK Party of Recep Tayyip Erdogan has forged an alliance with the nationalist MHP and together they have secured a majority of 322 seats in the 600-seat parliament, down from five years ago.

Erdogan has been a strong voice for the people of Kashmir, the Erdogan has openly supported the right of self-determination for Kashmir dispute under United Nation security council resolutions. He also criticises the Indian government in his United Nation General Assembly speech urging India to stop gross human rights violations in IIOJK.

Erdogan’s win was celebrated across Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, as Erdogan and his party has been at the forefront in the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Erdogan’s government has sponsored various developmental projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and has supported Pakistan in every crucial situation.
