What should PTI do?

0 9

There are three important legal matters that are faced by the Pakistan Tehrik-i- Insaf  and it would have to cope with all these factors before elections but only the judiciary has the answers to all these questions.

The first question is about the eligibility of PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan for contesting elections, the second matter belongs to level playing field and third issue is on the electoral symbol of bat. Peshawar High Court gave interim relief to PTI on the electoral symbol and allowed PTI to take part in the elections under the sign of cricket bat. Now after the vacations, the two members bench of the high court would hear the case.

Though it seems that now the wind is blowing against PTI, and the things would be  in line with the passage of time, when the dust will be settled down but  one can predict that during upcoming elections the party would be in hot water as there are very bleak chances that the party could come out from the danger zone before elections.

PTI got big benefit from the decision of Peshawar High Court as going into polls without its electoral symbol would have created big problems for it. Still the supporters of PTI are in confusion whether their leader Imran Khan would be allowed to run in the race or not, as he was declared disqualified in Al-Qadir University case by the court of law for holding any public post. Though PML(N)’s leader Nawaz Sharif was also declared disqualified in Avenfield apartments case to take part in the elections, the court had acquitted him of the charge.

The matter of level playing field has been raised by the PTI on various forums as well as in the media for the last six months or so. As far as the intra party elections of PTI is concerned, it should be seen that if the other political parties of the country conduct the intra party elections on the same pattern and If they are acceptable, then the PTI’s polls should also be admitted.

PTI is fighting a battle for its survival at the moment because the main leadership of the party had left it after the incident of 9th May, when allegedly PTI’s workers smashed some defense installations after the arrest of Imran Khan from the premises of Islamabad High Court. These events should not have happened but as a matter of fact the appalling occurrence of that day also left many unsolved questions, and it is possible that the replies of these questions would be revealed with the passage of time.

Now when the ship of PTI is stuck in the whirlpool, then its leadership should sit quietly by forgetting upcoming general elections that are going to be held on 8th February in the country. They should wait for the good time and focus on the future.

Currently Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf is also facing the leadership crises as almost all the remarkable personalities have parted their ways from it, Now the party has left with the option of young leadership, which may be enthusiastic but fairly inexperienced to handle the load of national responsibility. Even the majority of the leftovers have not the capacity to go in the parliament and raise voice for the rights of the people.

The minor representation of the youth in the parliament is always welcomed in modern day politics as they have the golden opportunity to learn from the experience of their fellow  politicians but if the whole party would consist of raw hand youth then it would be much challenging for it to endure the pressure of the people’s expectations.
