Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that Allama Iqbal’s message serves as a beacon of hope and guidance for generations to come.
In his special message on the birth anniversary of the Poet of the East, Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the Prime Minister said that Iqbal was a great thinker, philosopher, and visionary leader who left behind an unparalleled legacy in modern history.
The Prime Minister said that it was Allama Iqbal who first conceived the idea of Pakistan — a dream that was later realized under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He added that it is a matter of great pride that Allama Iqbal hailed from Kashmir and wholeheartedly supported the struggle of Kashmiri Muslims against the oppressive Dogra regime.
“The State of Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of the homeland that Allama Iqbal had envisioned for the Muslims of the subcontinent,” the Prime Minister said.
Expressing deep sorrow over the current situation in Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, he said it was painful that the region continues to reel under India’s illegal occupation. “The people of Indian Occupied Kashmir continue to face oppression and persecution at the hands of Indian forces,” he said, adding that despite all tactics of repression, India has failed to break the spirit or weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the dream of the Poet of the East would one day come true. “I am fully confident that the day is not far when the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir will achieve their long-cherished goal of freedom,” he maintained.
