Islamabad: A high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam, was held at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council Secretariat, Islamabad, to finalize preparations for observing October 27 as Black Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Amir Muqam said that India’s occupation of a large part of Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, was a blatant violation of the partition plan and against the will of the Kashmiri people. He said that the people of Kashmir have written a glorious history of sacrifices in their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation, and the nation salutes their courage and determination.
The Minister added that India has martyred hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris and turned the occupied territory into a heavily militarized zone to maintain its illegal control. He announced that, like every year, October 27 will be observed this year as Black Day with full spirit, and the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs has formulated a comprehensive plan for the occasion.
Addressing the meeting, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) AJK leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen said October 27 marks the darkest day in Jammu and Kashmir’s history when India forcefully occupied the region against the aspirations of its people. He emphasized that no power in the world can separate Kashmiris from Pakistan.
Sheikh Abdul Mateen further said that anti-India rallies and public gatherings will be held across Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, and major cities around the world on October 27 to send a clear message that the struggle for Kashmir’s freedom will continue until India’s illegal occupation ends.
The meeting was attended by the leadership of the APHC AJK chapter, Additional Secretary of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Kamran ur Rehman Khan, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education and Professional Training, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of IT, PIA, ICT Administration, Islamabad Police, Motorway Police, CDA, MCI, and all provinces including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
