Rawalpindi: Renowned writer and director Ms. Asma Butt said that Iqbal’s poetry and speeches awakened the Muslims of the subcontinent to the idea of an independent state, giving rise to the concept of a separate nation.
In her statement, she said that November 9 is celebrated every year with great reverence as the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. On this day, the entire nation and the artistic community pay tribute to the national poet. The Poet of the East, Allama Iqbal’s philosophy and poetry, played a vital role in inspiring the Pakistan Movement. His vision highlighted the need for a free Muslim state, and his philosophical contributions and inspiring poetry continue to promote selfhood, confidence, and cultural pride.
Asma Butt added that the day begins with special prayers in his honor. Allama Iqbal is called the “Poet of the East” because his poetry emphasizes self-reliance, cultural dignity, and spiritual growth. “We pay heartfelt tribute to his social and national services,” she said.
