Islamabad: Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal held a detailed and important meeting in Islamabad with the Minister for Health of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Bazal Ali Naqvi. The meeting was attended by the Federal Health Secretary, Director General Health, and other senior officials from the federal government and Azad Kashmir.
During the meeting, participants held a comprehensive discussion on key issues related to the health sector. A detailed review was conducted of the ongoing Public Sector Development Programme projects in Azad Kashmir, as well as those proposed for the next financial year. The discussions focused on strengthening health infrastructure, improving the quality of hospital facilities, provision of modern medical equipment, and enhancing the capacity of human resources.
Special attention was given to the nursing sector, including the improvement of nursing services, upgradation of nursing institutions, professional training, and the funding challenges faced by the sector. Both sides emphasized the need for sustainable investment and capacity building to address these issues effectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal said that health development projects in Azad Kashmir were a priority for the federal government and assured full support for their timely completion. He stated that close coordination between the federal government and Azad Kashmir would not only ensure the completion of ongoing projects but also facilitate the launch of new development initiatives.
He further said that providing better, quality, and accessible healthcare facilities to the public was a top priority of the federal government. He added that reforms, transparency, and effective monitoring were being ensured in the health sector to achieve this objective.
AJK Health Minister Syed Bazal Ali Naqvi briefed the meeting on the existing healthcare system in Azad Kashmir, the challenges being faced, and the ongoing reform measures. He appreciated the cooperation of the federal government and said that with federal support, the health sector in Azad Kashmir was being developed on modern lines, which would have direct positive impacts on the public.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both ministers agreed to further strengthen coordination and mutual cooperation between the federal government and Azad Kashmir in health sector projects to ensure the provision of improved and quality healthcare services to the people of the region.
