AJK government to take lack of funds to federal govt
PM AJK directs to realize the revenue recovery targets to ensure provision of better amenities to the people of state. Finance Department to confirm exact use of funds by 15th May ,2023
The Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhary Anwar-ul-Haq has directed the finance department AJK to take up the issue of scarcity of funds with the federal government so that the deficiency of budget may be fulfilled.
While addressing a meeting at Kashmir House here, about the upcoming budget of AJK, he asked the finance department of AJK to speed up the recovery of revenues and ensure the timely and accurate utilization of funds by instant 15th May positively.
The PM AJK said that the recovery target of revenues must be achieved so that better facilities for the people of AJK might be ensured.
The PM Chaudhary Anwar said that the government functionaries should enhance their capacity for the full consumption of the available resources.
“Those government departments would be held accountable, which would delay the deposit of the lapsable funds in the national exchequer within the due date. If some of the institute wants funds for the completion of ongoing projects, it would be transferred to it”, the PM added
He issued directives to the finance department that the full details of the additional funds allocated to PM’s Secretariat and other secretariats, along with relevant documents must be submitted to the Prime Minister’s office within three days. No delay in this regard would be tolerated.
The Secretary Finance briefed the meeting on the current financial position of the state. “By the end of third quarter of the current fiscal year, a recovery of Rs 11.21 billion was made against the target of Rs16.80 billion”, he apprised PM.
He said that due to lack of funds, the development projects in AJK are being delayed.
The Senior most Minister , Col (R) Waqar Ahmed Noor , Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore , Additional Chief Secretary (Development )and Principal Secretary to PM Fiaz Ali Abbasi, Secretary Finance Ismat Ullah Shah, Secretary Planning and Development and high officials of the AJK government were present on the occasion.
