Streamlining issues of Journalists, media houses top priority of Information Department: Raja Azhar Iqbal

MUZAFFARABAD: Streamlining all the issues being faced by the journalists and media houses in Azad Jammu and Kashmir is the top priority of the Information Department, said the Director General Information, Raja Azhar Iqbal here on Wednesday. He expressed this during a session with the representatives of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Press Foundation, Azad Kashmir Newspapers Society, Center Union of Journalists, Jammu and Kashmir Union of Journalists, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Newspapers Association, and Central Press Club in Muzaffarabad. He said that the main purpose of this meeting was to get suggestions for the betterment of media industry in AJK. The matters regarding which the suggestions taken from the representatives include, allocation of 3% from advertisements for the welfare of journalists, linking advertisements with the salaries of media workers, devising SOPs for social media, and to devise policy for ABC and non ABC Newspapers. Speaking at the occasion, Secretary Information, Tourism, and IT, Midhat Shehzad said that Welfare of the journalists is the top priority of the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The participants of the session hailed the steps of Information department for media reforms and assured their full support in this regard. Different committees were also devised during the session to resolve the issues of media industry. The session was attended by DG Information, Raja Azhar Iqbal; President AKNS, Sardar Zahid Tabassum; Aamir Mehboob; Shehzad Rathore; Amjid Chaudhry; Zafeer Baba; Vice Chairman Press Foundation, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali; Syed Afaq Shah; Sajjad Mir; Raja Amjid; Abrar Haider; Ijaz Abbasi; Abdul Hakeem Kashmiri; Ishtiaq Ahmed Aatish and other journalists.
