NGOs should inform citizens about diseases, harms caused by tobacco, sugary drinks: Sanaullah Ghuman

ISLAMABAD: Sanaullah Ghuman, General Secretary, Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) said that Social welfare organizations should be given the task of conducting awareness campaigns on diseases and disadvantages of Tobacco and Sugary drinks. An important meeting of the Social Welfare Department Punjab was held on Friday, which was attended by Sanaullah Ghuman, General Secretary, Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), during the meeting. On the occasion, General Secretary Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) Sanaullah Ghuman suggested that smoking and sugary drinks are not our necessities of life, but a cure for diseases. Social welfare organizations should be given the task of conducting awareness campaigns on diseases and disadvantages of Tobacco and Sugary drinks , so that citizens can benefit from it and avoid using it in their daily lives. The family should be used for the betterment and the government should be called upon to play its effective role in reducing the use of tobacco and sugary drinks. The fate of the country is in the hands of a healthy society. Diseases, cancer and other contagious diseases can be cured. Sanaullah Ghuman’s proposal was appreciated in the meeting and it was decided to take practical steps on it.
