ISLAMABAD : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that government will not allow Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif to flee the country as the matter of putting his name on Exit Control List (ECL) is under consideration. The Information Minister, while addressing a press conference with Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Railway Farrukh Habib, said that the PML-N President ran away when NAB tried to arrest him and later emerged from Lahore court, after getting bail, like he has conquered Kashmir. Shibli Faraz claimed that there is concrete evidence against Shehbaz Sharif and government is mulling over placing his name on ECL. The minister further said that PML-N has been divided into several factions and purpose of recent picture of PML-N supremo was to warn Shehbaz that elder Sharif can return at any time. Shibli said that opposition wants to hinder the process of accountability but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is not a dynastic party and Imran Khan will clean the mess others have created. Talking about coronavirus situation in the country, Information Minister appealed to the people to strictly follow the standard operating procedures in the face of rising cases of Coronavirus otherwise the government will be compelled to again enforce the lockdown. The Information Minister regretted that the people did not follow the precautionary measures in the wake of easing of restrictions. He said the restrictions were eased to provide livelihood opportunities to the weaker segments of the society. To provide succor to the disadvantaged segments of the society, the government also launched Ehsaas Program and other initiatives. Shibli Faraz said the government is pursuing a very well organized and coordinated strategy to curb the spread of the contagion. This is the reason the corona cases are less to our estimates. The Information Minister said all the relevant departments are working in close coordination to address the issue of locusts. He said a well thought out strategy just like Covid-19 is being followed to make the fight against the crop munching pests successful.
