Islamabad: The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held on Tuesday at NAB headquarters under the chairmanship of Honorable Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB. Deputy Chairman , Prosecutor General Accountability, Director General Operations, Director General NAB, Rawalpindi and other senior officers attended the meeting. It is years long set policy of the bureau that the details of the EBM-NAB meeting is shared with the people, which did not tend to hurt anyone. All the inquiries and investigations are initiated on the basis of alleged allegations which are not final. The decision to proceed ahead with the cases is taken after listening the both sides of the picture. The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) authorised conducting three inquiries against some personalities including Aamir Mehmood Kayani, former Minister for National Health Services and Coordination and others, officers/ officials of Civil Aviation Authority and others, officers/ officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and others. EBM authorised conducting complaint verification against Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza. EBM authorised sending inquiries against officers/ officials of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and others to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources after analysing inquiry and perusing audit paras.Under the leadership of Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal NAB has directly or indirectly recovered Rs 178 billion in the last 28 months and deposited it in national exchequer. Prestigious national and international institutions specially World Economic Forum,Transparency International Pakistan, PILDAT, in their recent reports has lauded the Performance of NAB, which is an honour for NAB. Some 1229 references having accumulated value of over Rs 900 billion are under trial in different Accountability courts. Chairman NAB directed all Director Generals of NAB to conclude complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations within stipulated time frame. He directed prosecutors, investigation officers to pursue NAB cases after preparations by ensuring concrete evidence in accordance with law. So that the corrupt could be punished.
