CM GB meets Prince Rahim Aga Khan, discuss development initiatives

Gilgit: Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, met with Prince Rahim Aga Khan. Welcoming Prince Rahim Aga Khan and his team to Gilgit-Baltistan, the Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the Aga Khan family’s significant role in the region’s development. He noted that Prince Rahim’s visit, following Princess Zahra Aga Khan’s recent trip, reflects their deep interest and affection for the area.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for continued support in advancing Gilgit-Baltistan’s development, particularly in expanding AKDN programs in remote and underdeveloped areas to address fundamental issues such as healthcare and education, thereby improving living standards. Additionally, he highlighted the potential in the power sector and the necessity of attracting investment and focusing on AKDN’s power projects to alleviate the ongoing electricity crisis.

Expressing his good wishes for His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Chief Minister extended a special invitation for him to visit Gilgit-Baltistan.

In response, Prince Rahim Aga Khan stated that during his three-day visit, he inspected several key projects related to health and education. He assured that the identified sectors would receive special attention and that AKDN programs would be extended to all districts, particularly remote and underserved areas. Prince Rahim pledged to personally visit these areas in future trips and to initiate health and education projects under AKDN soon. He also committed to promoting international tourism in the region.

Prince Rahim directed AKDN leaders accompanying him to quickly prepare plans to address the areas identified by the Chief Minister.

The meeting was also attended by Provincial Minister of Planning and Development Raja Nasir Ali Khan, Provincial Minister of Tourism and Food Ghulam Muhammad, and Provincial Minister of Health Raja Azam Khan.
