Kotli :Deputy Commissioner Raja Imran Shaheen, accompanied by Superintendent of Police Kotli Adeel Ahmed Langrial, Mayor Municipal Corporation Chaudhry Muhammad Taj, Executive Engineer Highways Division Kotli Raja Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Kotli Qaiser Aslam, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Chaudhry Rashid, Sub-Divisional Officer Highways Chaudhry Rasib, along with other concerned officers and staff, carried out a detailed inspection of the inner areas of Kotli city.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed traffic congestion, illegal parking, and encroachments at Shaheed Chowk, Hafiz Aslam Road, Aabshar Chowk, Lorry Adda, and other key locations. He issued clear directives for the enforcement of the Yellow Line to eliminate illegal parking and ensure smooth traffic flow. He instructed that vehicles must be parked strictly within the Yellow Line, while legal action would be taken against those parking outside the designated areas in accordance with the law.
The Deputy Commissioner also ordered the immediate closure of open manholes at various points to prevent any untoward incidents. He directed that concrete slabs (lintels) be placed over the drain alongside the inner road affected by erosion from water flow, in order to widen the road and make it fully accessible for traffic.
Furthermore, he ordered the removal of unnecessary handcarts, the elimination of the rickshaw stand at Shaheed Chowk, and a indiscriminate crackdown against violations. Concerned departments were instructed to take immediate steps to develop the chowk at Roli Cross into a model intersection.
In addition, special directions were issued to the Kotli Development Authority (KDA) for the immediate removal of garbage and silt from the drain along the road coming from KDA Road Bypass towards Khawaja Bazaar, to improve cleanliness and the drainage system.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Raja Imran Shaheen appealed to the public to cooperate with the district administration, stating that practical and serious measures are being taken to improve civic facilities, traffic discipline, and the overall beautification of the city. He urged citizens to follow the law, avoid illegal parking and encroachments, and support the administration’s efforts. “God willing, Kotli will be developed into a clean, organized, and exemplary city,” he said.
