Blast destroyed three shops and overturned a vehicle

At least three people, including a woman and two children, were killed and four others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in a shop in the Mosmiyat area of Karachi on Wednesday.

According to reports, the blast was so severe that it destroyed three shops and overturned a vehicle, injuring its driver, who is reportedly in critical condition.

Security forces had cordoned off the area and the injured have been shifted to a local hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Saeeda Ali, 32, Fatima Ali, 4, and Abdullah, 2. The woman came with her children to visit her brother, whose house is above the shop where the explosion took place.

Earlier in February, it was reported that an explosion left two siblings injured and five houses in Orangi Town’s Faqir Colony damaged.

Two minors, identified as Abdur Rehman, 8, and Sidra, 10, were injured as the roof and walls of their house collapsed due to an explosion. Residents of the other houses managed to vacate the buildings in time, while the injured siblings were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Reaching the site, the police alerted the Sui Southern Gas Company and other relevant authorities and cordoned off the site.  An eyewitness to the blast told The Express Tribune that panic spread on the street when the blast occurred.
