ISLAMABAD : Principal Information Officer(PIO) , Muhammad Asim Khichi, has said the information ministry is well aware of the problems being faced by the print media.
He was addressing to a diner hosted by Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), in his honour He said that, to address these issues effective, steps will be taken, including a 35% increase in advertising rates and an increase in the volume of advertisements.
He assured CPNE that digital advertisement would also be issued for web and social media pages of those newspapers who fulfil the conditions for issuance of digital ads. He said though the volume of the advertisement is less due to the reason that the country is passing through a financial crunch , but the Information Ministry is trying to increase the volume of the ads.
“The summary for the increase for the 35 percent rates of advertisement has been sent to Finance Ministry”, he added.
