Muzaffarabad: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned and rejected the views recently expressed by the US Ambassador to India on Kashmir.

In a statement issued from party’s central information office, the JKLF chief spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar rejected the views expressed by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in Srinagar that described Kashmir as an important part of India.

Rafiq Dar termed the ambassador’s statement as contrary to the decades long official position of the governments of USA. The statement overlooked the pending UNSC resolutions on Jammu Kashmir issue and disregarded the well recognised people’s right to self-determination for the attainment of which the people of the UN recognised disputed State of Jammu Kashmir have rendered unprecedented sacrifices during their peaceful struggle for freedom, he added.

According to the statement, the JKLF chief spokesman said that US Ambassador’s visit to Srinagar under State protocol followed by such irresponsible remarks is being considered by the people of Jammu Kashmir as tantamount to rubbing salt to their injuries.

The US diplomats in past would always engage with the leadership of pro freedom camp during their visits in Srinagar, and besides condemning the gross human rights violations they would clearly state Kashmir as an unresolved disputed territory, the JKLF spokesman informed. The US President Trump’s recent offer for mediation on Kashmir, on the end of May 2025 short war between India and Pakistan, is a glaring example of the county’s official position on Kashmir, the statement read.

Rafiq Dar in his statement urged that the early, democratic, sustainable, permanent and just resolution of the Jammu Kashmir issue through dialogue between all the three stakeholders ( India, Pakistan and representatives of Jammu Kashmir) is in the interest of regional as well as world peace.

JKLF is committed to peaceful struggle until the people of entire State of Jammu Kashmir from across both sides of the ceasefire line exercise their birth right of self-determination, and get a chance to shape their future in accordance with their free will and aspirations, he emphasised. He appealed the international community especially the US to play their role in the early resolution of the Kashmir issue so that the peace is restored in the region.
