Muzaffarabad: Protest procession was staged on International Women’s Day under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir to seek international community attention towards the deteriorating situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
According to details, a large number of women gathered at Burhan Wani Chowk while chanting Anti-India and pro-freedom slogans besides holding banners and placards stated condemnation phrases about Indian atrocities.
Speakers on the occasion has said that despite the claims of protection, restoration and success of women’s rights to the world, millions of Kashmiri women are still suffering the worst oppression in history.
The women and girls participating in the sit-in were raising slogans of “Stop the persecution of Kashmiri women” and “India! Leave Jammu and Kashmir” and others.
“Millions of Kashmiri women are forced to live in the shadow of terror and brutality”, speakers added.
They said that India is violating all human and feminine rights of Kashmiri women by military force under the guise of so-called democracy.
“The Indian Army under the leadership of Narendra Modi is using violence and sexual assault on Kashmiri women as a weapon of war”, speakers lamented.
“On International Women’s Day, we demand protection and restoration of fundamental rights of Kashmiri women”, Kashmiri women demanded.
“Human rights organizations should play their role for the release of Asia Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, Fahmida Sufi and other women imprisoned in Indian jails”, they further demanded.
Speakers said tha United Nations should take action against Indian soldiers involved in sexual assaults on Kashmiri women in Kunnan Poshpura, Shopian and other places.
“If India continues to oppress Kashmiri women in the same way in Jammu and Kashmir, then the role of the United Nations will become meaningless”, speakers said.
Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat said that India cannot succeed to crush the resistance movement by attacking Kashmiri women, “We pay homage to the eternal role played by the determined women of Kashmir in the freedom struggle”, he added.
