PM AJK, Speaker Legislative Assembly, President PPP Women’s Wing Faryal Talpur, former PM of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf, and PPP AJK President Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen pay glowing tribute to late President of AJK
Mirpur: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Acting President and Speaker of the Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, President PPP Women’s Wing and In-charge of PPP AJK Political Affairs Faryal Talpur, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf, and PPP AJK President Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen visited the mausoleum of late President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry.
The leaders laid floral wreaths on the grave, offered Fateha, and paid rich tributes to the late leader. A police contingent presented a salute and guard of honour on the occasion. Later, they visited his residence, Chechiyan Sultan House, where they offered condolences to the bereaved family members, including government ministers Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Chaudhry Arshad Hussain, and Chaudhry Saud Sultan.
Several prominent political figures were also present, including Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, former Sindh Interior Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, former federal minister and MNA Aijaz Jakhrani, former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, AJK ministers Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq, Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed, Nabila Ayub, Taqdees Gilani, Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, former adviser Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz, Adviser Sardar Ahmed Sagheer, former provincial minister Nadeem Asghar Qahira, DG Prime Minister Secretariat Aamir Zeeshan Jarral, Chairman Ulema Mashaikh Council Sahibzada Zulfiqar Ali, former DG Liberation Cell Nadeem Qasmi, and dozens of Pakistan Peoples Party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Faryal Talpur said that Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry’s political services and his role in highlighting the Kashmir freedom movement at the international level would always be remembered. She said he took historic steps for the development, progress, and welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir.
She added that his services as President of Azad Kashmir and President of PPP AJK were a valuable asset for the party. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry was a true ambassador of the Kashmir freedom movement, who presented the Kashmir issue globally in an effective manner and earned the trust of Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control. His contributions, she said, would remain unforgettable.
