The joy of reading books appears to be dwindling in the modern period as people become more accustomed to technology. There are only books in libraries. Some people attribute this problem to the internet, but this is untrue because the internet is a medium that has made the world a small, interconnected community. Today, it is easy to find electronic books on a wide range of subjects, making it easier to access knowledge that is dispersed throughout the world. Despite the dominance of TV, the internet, mobile devices, and social media, the value of books cannot be denied. It has become challenging to get young people interested in studying, even if specialists agree that reading is important to prevent the modern world’s increasing psychological issues because it awakens the mind and keeps kids away from numerous useless hobbies.
According to the English poet Shelley, learning is important to cultivate the mind. According to Abraham Lincoln, reading literature helps to enlighten the intellect. According to Voltaire,
books rule the world except in barbarous nations. In book tourism, one meets poets, writers, philosophers, and wise men; in real life, one meets fools and idiots.
Napoleon Bonaparte said about bookworms that those who study books are mentally strong enough to rule the world. The book has played a fundamental role in the development of knowledge and expansion of thought. When the world came to know the art of writing, man used stones, tree barks, animal bones and skins, palm leaves, ivory, and paper to write everything with which he could express his heart to others. The story of the book is also fantastic. Sometimes they were set on fire, sometimes taken to the river, sometimes stolen, sometimes buried. Sometimes they were used to adorn the royal court and sometimes they were sold at high prices on the footpath. But books and friendship are the guarantees of economic prosperity and social peace.
According to intellectuals, despite the rise of technology, the value of books has not diminished. People claim to want to learn, but the cost of books has risen above the means of the average person. The relationship between the book and man is claimed to be very old, and it has greatly increased man’s knowledge, skill set, and mental capacity. He grows in his consciousness of himself and his understanding of the people, places, and things around him. Just as it is impossible to survive without air and water, so too is it impossible for man to survive and evolve without books. Friendship with books illuminates new levels of consciousness. Never alone is a book lover. The book endures even after all of your friends and loved ones are gone.
Books and human civilization have been side by side since the beginning. The man started his journey in this world from the headless world and continued to fight for his survival. In this journey of survival, man lived a difficult and miserable life for centuries. After remaining anonymous for centuries, man found a key that revolutionized knowledge and awareness in the human mind. When this key opened the dark windows of the human mind, the man saw the shining sun of knowledge. A man took this key to his chest in the form of a book and started a new journey of research and observation. Books are not only an important source of personal development but also an important factor in building a civilized and vibrant society. If we study history, we will know that the nations who strengthened their relationship with the book, those nations could achieve progress and rise. Undoubtedly, books have a great influence on human life, and literature softens the human mood. Extremist sentiments in society can be reduced by encouraging and promoting interest in reading books among children and the young generation today.
