Maryam Nawaz, vice president of the PML-N, is scheduled to depart for London today (Wednesday) after the Lahore High Court gave her passport back, which she had given up in exchange for bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case.
For her journey to London, the PML-N leader has already arrived at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.
At the airport, Maryam told Geo News, “I cannot wait for the plane to land [in London] and greet my father.
According to sources, the PML-N leader is flying on a private airliner. They stated that she would stay in London for a month and get checked up by a doctor.
According to Sharif family insiders, Maryam will travel back to Pakistan with Nawaz Sharif, her father.
After a three-member LHC bench ordered its return earlier this week, Maryam received her passport back a day earlier.
The PML-N leader complained to the LHC about the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), claiming that despite the lack of a charge sheet or trial against her, she had been unable to exercise her constitutional rights for around four years.
She had begged the court to order the deputy registrar (judicial) to restore her passport in the interest of justice, arguing that she was in urgent need of traveling abroad to care for and get information on her ailing father.
