At the London O2 Indigo, thousands of South Asian fans witnessed performances by singer Ali Sethi, rising talent Shae Gill, and the dynamic duet Leo Twins.
This was the first ever Pakistani music concert where the majority of the audience was standing inside the venue on the first floor to dance and sing along with Ali Sethi and Shae Gill as they performed three different versions of the viral Coke Studio sound track, Pasoori. It was organized and presented by Pakistan’s famous instrumentalists Leo Twins [Sharoon Leo and Haroon Leo] with Geo News as official media partner.
While the bottom floor was crowded with thousands of students and professionals from Pakistan and India, the upper hall was fully seated.
The three-hour-long performance began with a solo performance by Gill, followed by an instrumental set by the Leo Twins, a solo performance by Ali Sethi, and finally a stirring collaboration between Sethi and Gill.
In spite of a few audio issues, the artists gave the entire night their best effort. There was little doubt, though, that the majority of the ecstatic throng had purchased tickets to sway to Pasoori, a song that has gone viral and become one of the biggest international successes from Pakistan. More than 400 million people have listened to the song so far, and India and other countries have been quite supportive.
“Specific energy,” Ali Sethi
After the show, Sethi told Geo News that London’s South Asian population had a certain vitality.
“I always like giving performances for the devoted South Asian community. I must admit that Punjabis have the most vitality in the entire planet. “Meeting the amazing Shae Gill made the crowd very pleased,” he stated.
The musician claimed that Gill, Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, and Zulfiqar Siddiqui, as well as Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan’s overall arrangement, are responsible for Pasoori’s overall success. Abdullah Siddiqui, a young prodigy, is also credited with giving the song a universal musical language and reflecting the viewpoint of Generation Z.
He claimed that Gill possesses the rare ability to sing “with 100% confidence and gusto” in English, Sindhi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
“I am overjoyed to see Pakistanis of the younger generation using their talent in this way. These children are decent people. They are concerned for one another, he continued.
The 23-year-old Gill’s debut performance outside of Pakistan was this one.
“I was apprehensive, but the crowd was incredible. I always believed that this song would be popular, but I never anticipated receiving this much support. The responses have been outstanding. I’m attempting to handle the pressure that the song’s success has brought with it. There is nothing like originality, so I will be singing more of my own songs,” she remarked.
Leo Twins: “We wanted to try something different.”
The Leo Twins stated to Geo News that they intended to deliver something unique for the viewers. They claimed that it happened when we discussed inviting Ali Sethi and Shae Gill to London for their first-ever joint concert following the success of Pasoori.
We are well known as producers of music and instrumentalists, but this time we decided to try something different. Producing our own concert is the best way for us to interact with our audience.
The team said that it took them months to plan and carry out their ideas. They claimed that the idea behind the production was to provide the audience an unforgettable experience rather than merely a musical evening.
“Our show was sold out because of the affection from all the supporters in the UK!”
