In an appeal to the UN, APHC leader Bilal Ahmed Siddiqi, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Zamrooda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, Dr. Musaib, and Maulana Sajid Nadvi urged it to exert pressure on India to stop its atrocities, harassment of its citizens, and seizure of their property.

The leaders denounced the inhumane treatment meted out to the Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, youth, and activists who were being held incommunicado in India. The political detainees who stand in for the Kashmiri people’s desire for freedom have dedicated their life and honour to the noble cause of independence from Indian rule.

They urged the UN to pressure India to free all political prisoners, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Khurrum Parvaiz, Mush For the current resistance movement, Tariq Ahmed Dar, Dr. Shafi Shariati, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, and Ghulam Qadir Butt have made significant sacrifices.

The people of Kashmir pay respect and admiration to the unbreakable will and unwavering dedication of these political prisoners who, despite Indian ruthlessness and inhumane behaviour, are proud of their sacred mission of independence, they said.
They pleaded with the United Nations Human Rights Council and other international human rights organisations, such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Committee of Red Cross, to pay attention to the plight of the Kashmiri prisoners and take action to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people as the situation in IIOJK had deteriorated to a very serious state where systemic racism was now rife.
