No announcements, just surprises: ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ makers hint release

Is it really happening? Will we finally see The Legend of Maula Jatt on the big screen? Well, it certainly looks that way! The release of the highly anticipated movie has been on the agenda in the past few weeks.

The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan, Humaima Malick, Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi in lead roles. Much like Maula Jatt and Wehshi Jatt, the film is a retelling of Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi’s Urdu play Gandasa.

Responding to the rumors, producer Ammarah Hikmat and actress Mirza Gohar Rasheed went to social media and shared their views on the subject. While Rasheed is making a switch, Hikmat shared that no announcements will be made. “No announcements this time, just surprises!” The producer shared it on Instagram along with the Pakistani flag.

The Legend of Maula Jatt was first announced in 2011. Ten years later, the movie has yet to be released. Earlier this year, The Legend of Maula Jatt was finally cleared of all legal tangles after the original film’s producer, Sarwer Bhatti, withdrew all lawsuits. Bhatti denied all the rumors that there was a financial deal between him and the film’s producers. Instead, Bhatti attributes the decision to his desire for the well-being of local cinema.

“I have fought hard for the well-being of local cinema and the film industry throughout my career. If the film industry can be strengthened by withdrawing the lawsuit, then I will do so. It would certainly be beneficial to have more local broadcasts across the country,” said Bhatti.

The main producers of The Legend of Maula Jatt, Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari were involved in a two-year legal battle with Bhatti. Second, her company filed a lawsuit for copyright infringement, claiming that Bahoo Films had the rights to the Maula Jatt story. As a result, the Legend of Maula Jatt was blocked from being released. The team behind The Legend of Maula Jatt later sued Bhatti.

“I just let them use the copyrights of my movie Maula Jatt, and I also asked them to take back the lawsuits they brought against me. They and their families had reached out to me. We forgive our own children when they make mistakes. Both Bilal and Ammara are like my own children, so I forgive them,” he said.
