Pak versus NZ: Babar Azam chooses to bowl after winning toss in the opening ODI

83

In the opening ODI matchup between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, captain Babar Azam made the decision to bat first.

While Usama Mir, who has never played for Pakistan, has been included, Henry Shipley will be making his New Zealand debut.
The previous Test series between the two sides ended both teams’ terrible seasons when neither of the two Tests, played in Karachi, produced a result.
Four of the eight tests, including their first-ever 3-0 whitewash at the hands of England, were lost by Pakistan, who were unable to win any of their three-Test series played at home.
In addition, New Zealand lost all six of its most recent Test matches.
When these two teams last met, it was during the 2019 50-over World Cup, and Babar Azam’s magnificent 101 not out gave Pakistan a dominant six-wicket victory in Birmingham. Their previous bilateral series, which took place in the UAE in 2018, concluded with a tie after the final game was postponed.
During the series against New Zealand, Pakistan has a chance to surpass the United States as the best ODI side in the world.
Pakistan would go up to the top of the standings with 114 rating points if they defeat New Zealand 3-0 during the three-match series.
With 107 rating points, The Men in Green are presently in fifth position. New Zealand is now in first place with 116 rating points.
It will be Pakistan’s fourth straight series victory if they defeat New Zealand in the one-day internationals.
Pakistan has won their last three ODI series against the Netherlands, West Indies, and Australia.
Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam (in charge), Mohammad Rizwan (at the wicket), Haris Sohail, Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah make up the playing XI for Pakistan.

New Zealand: Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Henry Shipley, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson (c), Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (wk),
