Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday said that the alliance between China’s million-plus People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Pakistan Army will play a crucial role in protecting the “collective interests” of both countries.
Speaking on the occasion of PLA’s 95th founding anniversary, which was celebrated at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the Army Chief said that China-Pakistan relations are “unique and strong” and that it has proven its strength in the face of challenges.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), the ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, officials of the Chinese Embassy and officers of the Trilateral Forces of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador thanked the COAS for hosting the PLA anniversary reception.
He said that China and Pakistan were “iron brothers, all-weather friends and strategic allies”.
Ambassador Rong added that the recent meeting of the China-Pakistan Joint Cooperation Committee in China has established an important platform for military cooperation that will effectively work for military-to-military relations between the two countries.
The COAS congratulated the PLA and appreciated its role in China’s defense, security and nation building.
Highlighting the various aspects of the deep relationship between the two states, the armies and the people, the COAS also said that Pakistan-China relations are unique and strong and have proved their resilience in the face of challenges.
