Gilgit: Upon receiving numerous complaints through social media phone calls and other means regarding the deteriorating internet service by the Special Communication Organization (SCO), the Speaker of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Nazir Ahmed Advocate, has taken serious note of this significant issue.
The Speaker has decided to take action under the Rules of Procedure of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly by converting these complaints into a public petition. He stated that due to the poor internet service, the communication system within Gilgit-Baltistan is in disarray, severely impacting the education of students and the functioning of both government and non-governmental organizations, which ultimately causes great harm to our people.
The Speaker mentioned that currently, most educated youth in Gilgit-Baltistan earn their livelihood through freelancing, and for the past several months, this class has become almost unemployed due to the poor internet service provided by the SCO.
He 1expressed deep regret that even in this modern era, the state of internet service is extremely deplorable. Providing transportation facilities to the public is their fundamental right, and silence on this important issue cannot be maintained any longer. The Speaker has decided to form a special committee of the assembly to find a permanent and alternative solution to this issue. Detailed discussions will also be held during the assembly session on this important issue to move towards a permanent and alternative solution.
