The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leaders paid glowing tributes to senior APHC leader Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on his second martyrdom anniversary, today.
Senior APHC leader, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai died in Indian police custody in Jammu on this day in 2021.
Addressing a function held by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir AJK chapter at its office in Rawalpindi, Hurriyat leaders including Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Ghulam Muhammad Safi and Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that Ashraf Sehrai’s saying ‘As long as India’s illegal occupation of the territory continues, the people of Kashmir have the right to resist at all levels (including militancy) against the occupying power’ is worthy of being written in golden letters.
The Hurriyat leaders mentioned the custodial killing of Ashraf Sehrai and said this cruelty has exposed the ugly face of India to the world and the people of Kashmir have also created a new chapter of sacrifices in the history of the freedom movements.
Reiterating the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the struggle till the last drop of their blood, they said the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has pledged to take the Kashmir freedom movement to its logical conclusion at all costs.
Condemning the criminal silence of the international community on the Indian atrocities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Hurriyat leaders said this behavior certainly gives encouragement to the occupying power, but these atrocities could not force the Kashmiri people to give up their just cause.
Referring to the statements of the Pakistan government, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government and the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan regarding Kashmir, the leaders said these statements give new courage and enthusiasm to the struggling Kashmiri people and also send a message to the occupying power. Now it is necessary to implement these statements and formulate a strategy to get the Indian state terrorism stopped, they maintained.
At the end of the function, the participants prayed for Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and other Kashmiri martyrs and early liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian illegal occupation.
