Muzaffarabad: A laptop distribution ceremony under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme was held on Wednesday at the Allama Iqbal Open University Regional Campus, Muzaffarabad, aimed at promoting digital learning and enhancing academic research among students.
The ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, who distributed laptops among deserving students belonging to the Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot regions. A large number of students, faculty members, and university officials attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme was a landmark initiative to empower students with modern technological tools and bridge the digital divide in the country. He emphasized that access to technology was essential in today’s knowledge-based economy and that laptops would help students improve their academic performance, research capabilities, and digital skills.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted the role of Allama Iqbal Open University in providing affordable and accessible education to students in remote and underdeveloped areas, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said the university was committed to supporting government initiatives that promote education, innovation, and youth development.
Addressing the students, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood urged them to use the laptops responsibly for educational and research purposes. He encouraged them to focus on innovation, critical thinking, and skill development to meet the challenges of the modern world.
Students who received laptops expressed gratitude to the government and the university administration, stating that the provision of laptops would significantly support their studies, online learning, and research work. They said such initiatives were especially beneficial for students from far-flung areas, where access to digital resources was limited.
University officials present at the ceremony reiterated their commitment to facilitating students and ensuring the transparent distribution of laptops under the scheme. The event concluded with a pledge to continue collaborative efforts for the promotion of higher education and digital inclusion among the youth.
