Islamabad: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq, has rejected the decision of the Indian Supreme Court, stating that if the international community fails to rescue Kashmiris from Indian atrocities, Kashmiris may be compelled to resume military struggle. The Pakistani government raised the Kashmir issue in the Security Council, with the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir addressing the All-Parties Conference. Emphasizing the need for a solution in accordance with United Nations agreements, he highlighted the severe measures taken by the Modi government in August 2019, ending Kashmir’s special status with the abrogation of Article 370.

Dr. Mushtaq expressed his dismay at the recent Indian Supreme Court decision, accusing the court of being influenced by extremist elements rather than delivering justice. In a press conference at the Jamaat-e-Islami headquarters, he emphasized that India has violated the rights of Kashmiris through the Supreme Court and that there are more extremist elements than justice-oriented judges in the Indian Supreme Court.

He stated that this reaffirms that Modi is unwilling to abide by any international legal principles. Dr. Mushtaq urged the global community to take action to prevent India from such actions and put an end to the oppression in Kashmir. He called on international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to raise their voices against India’s human rights violations and to prevent further delay in addressing the Kashmir issue.

Dr. Mushtaq advised the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir to convene an immediate all-party meeting to formulate a comprehensive action plan, involving all stakeholders. He suggested that if there are any reservations about calling an all-party conference, Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to fulfill this crucial duty. He emphasized the need for a unified stance on the Kashmir issue among all political leaders in Pakistan and urged the government to prioritize Kashmir despite the economic challenges facing the country.

Dr. Mushtaq highlighted the option of approaching the International Court of Justice and stressed the importance of utilizing all available international forums to seek justice for Kashmiris. In response to a question, he mentioned that the UN Charter grants Kashmiris the right to use all options, including militancy, if justice is denied, and reiterated the readiness to engage in international legal avenues.

The press conference also featured statements from freedom leader Ghulam Mohammad Safi, Secretary-General of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir Raja Jehangir, Information Secretary Raja Zakir, and other prominent figures.
