Speaker AJK assembly briefs British delegation about situation in IIOJK

Muzafafrabad: Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar hosted a reception in Muzaffarabad for a delegation of British Parliament members led by Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Self-Determination International Movement. The delegation included British Parliament members Andrew Gwynne, Chair of the Friends of Kashmir Britain, Naz Shah, Sam Terry, Secretary-General of the Right to Self-Determination International Movement, Muhammad Azam, Zeshan Aarif, James Neal, Sam Terry MP, Counselor Kaniz Akhtar Bredford, Nazia Noreen, Counselor Muniba Khan, Fozia Jabreen, and Abid Khan.

Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan were also present.

On this occasion, Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar briefed the British Parliament members on the human rights violations, including actions taken by India to suppress the right to self-determination of Kashmiris since August 5, 2019, in the occupied territories of Jammu and Kashmir. Chaudhry Latif Akbar stated that India is committing severe human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir, which is currently one of the world’s largest prisons, where the basic rights of the citizens are denied.

Chaudhry Latif Akbar also mentioned that India has cut off the occupied Kashmir from the rest of the world and imposed media restrictions to prevent the real situation in occupied Kashmir from reaching the world. He thanked the British delegation for raising their voices in support of the Kashmiri people.

On this occasion, Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar presented shields to Raja Najabat Hussain, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Self-Determination International Movement, British Parliament members Naz Shah, Chairman of the Friends of Kashmir Britain Andrew Gwynne, and Vice Chairman of All Parties Parliamentary Kashmir Group, Sam Terry.
